Sorry for hollering yet this is extremely significant. Snap here to perceive what Typepad is advancing as a decent utilization of their administration to make a resume. That is HORRIBLE! In addition to the fact that it is exhausting from a plan point of view the resume is seriously composed. What's more, theres nothing more online than was in the first resume!. What is the point?? Soon after I saw this, I unearthed this post about the significance of a LinkedIn profile. Truly! I concur! In any case, at that point I read this: In the event that you are not the world's best essayist, enlist one to support you. I mean recruit an undergrad or put out a promotion on Craig's rundown or eLance to locate a decent author. There are a great deal of authors out there and much more of them than expected are most likely searching for some additional money about this time, with the downturn and Christmas one-two punch. It wont require a great deal of money either. Put your future under the control of an unpracticed school kid, or an author who isnt sufficient to be occupied?? NO! This is my dread about Web 2.0 the simplicity of distributing is beguiling. In the event that everything necessary to distribute to the web is to type some stuff and the hit the submit button, cant anybody do it? Based on Typepads model, the appropriate response is no. In all actuality composing your web profile is similarly as hard as composing an incredible resume. Similarly likewise with your resume, you ought to comprehend the requirements of your crowd, realize your actual incentive and work to make each expression of your profile convey that message. In any case, with a web profile particularly on person to person communication locales like LinkedIn, theres another layer to this. You additionally need to know how the site functions for spotters how would they explore? What do they see when they run a general hunt? What causes them to decide to peruse one profile and not another? What convinces them to email you? For instance, on LinkedIn, spotters see the sub-header that runs underneath your name when they run a pursuit. On the off chance that theyre taking a gander at a page loaded up with these sub-headers, how might you make yours stick out? Would you be able to state some different option from promoting director.? What about promoting official represent considerable authority in incorporated advertising focusing on the young crowd. In the event that Im a spotter searching for somebody with your aptitudes, you can wager Ill navigate to your profile now. In any case, what school child would know to modify that sub-feature? Dont waste your pursuit of employment prospects by simply hurling an unremarkable online profile or recruiting some under-qualified individual to compose your profiles. Pay attention to your online nearness as you take your resume no hold up pay attention to it more, in light of the fact that not at all like your resume, you cant simply pull it back and make changes sometime in the not too distant future. Whats out there now is stored and out there for a REALLY prolonged stretch of time. On the off chance that that is insufficient to startle you energetically, nothing will!

Whats Your Definition of Success Write It Down!

What's Your Definition of Success Write It Down! What's Your Definition of Success Write It Down! 100Years prior, achievement was an extremely straightforward thing to characterize. It quite often incorporated some degree of riches and wellbeing, and possibly a cheerful home life, as well. However, the present meaning of progress truly relies upon who you inquire. Numerous individuals no longer barely characterize accomplishment by the numbers in their financial balance, which drives us to think about what your meaning of progress resembles. As per the national Success Project Survey from Strayer University, an incredible 90 percent of individuals accept that achievement has unmistakably more to do with individual bliss than force, popularity, or what you own. Thus, in case you're despite everything stuck in a riches = achievement mindset, beneath are some better approaches to figure out what your meaning of progress is-and the main thing to you. You may be (cheerfully) astonished at what you find. Am I doing what I love? There's no uncertainty about it: adoring what you do has a significant effect between having work and having a vocation. While you can have a vocation that takes care of the tabs and seek after your energy as an afterthought as an interest, there's no motivation behind why you can't blend the two to have work that fuses a portion of the things you love. So in case you're stuck in a cold activity, or in case you're beginning your pursuit of employment, attempt to look past doing what you've generally done as far as work (and not so much preferred) and go fresh to get a new line of work that will fulfill your heart. Carries out this responsibility give me the adaptability I need? In this day and age, it's getting progressively harder to work inside the parameters of a 9-5 office work. Keeping your work life totally separate from your own life for eight hours per day, 40 hours seven days is practically inconceivable. That is the reason having an adaptable occupation can significantly decrease your feelings of anxiety by permitting you to combine vocation and kids and achieve everything that you have to do, both on the work front and the home front. So if your definition for progress incorporates having more work-life balance, adaptable work is probably the most ideal approaches to accomplish that. Need to get a new line of work that offers greater adaptability? Begin by looking at the best 100 organizations with remote employments in 2015. Are my money related requirements being met? On the off chance that you feel that your degree of achievement can be estimated carefully by the measure of numbers in your pay, reconsider. Working 80-hour work filled weeks just to have enough money to stay aware of the Joneses is turning out to be pretty antiquated. Truth be told, a few laborers, especially twenty to thirty year olds, regularly like to work at occupations they love and will forego a fat financial balance for work-life balance and an occupation that satisfies them. So consider what is essential to you: you may understand that an awesome proposition for employment with a fat compensation connected to it isn't as imperative to you on the off chance that you never get the opportunity to fold your children into bed around evening time. Eventually, everybody has their very own meaning of achievement. Knowing precisely what yours is early can assist you with facilitating your pursuit of employment and assist you with finding a place that causes you to feel cheerful and, indeed, fruitful. Perusers, how would you characterize achievement? Is it a major financial balance or having the option to telecommute so you can invest more energy with your family? Tell us what you think in the remarks underneath!

Do You Know To Get a Recruiters Attention

Do You Know To Get a Recruiters Attention I lost count of how many clients have told me they hung their hat on one or two recruiter relationships but nothing ever panned out in terms of landing a great job. If you don’t know how to work with recruiters you can easily be tempted to feel that you have been let down in your relationship with them. Here are a few facts about recruiters to help you get a baseline of perspective: A recruiter works for (and are paid by) their client companies. They don’t work for you, have no real allegiance to you and will only be interested in you if your career history is a match for their searches. Knowing that will help you go into establishing relationships with recruiters with more objectivity. Recruiters come in all shapes and sizes. I have met many of them and I was one of them for seven years. Some are good, some are nice, and some are not. When you send your resume to a big handful of recruiters that specialize in your industry or position you will get a mixed bag of responses. Some will respond with interest, some will send you an automatic message to fill out their generic candidate forms on their websites, some will not respond at all and some may even respond negatively. Be prepared for all of it â€" and take none of it personally. And by all means don’t skip this step! It’s a necessary step you must play out in order to garner the interest of the smaller percentage of recruiters who may be able to help you! Recruiters generally like straightforward, chronological resumes. They tend to prefer your academic background be listed somewhere on the first page. They look at a lot of resumes each week and they don’t like to have to scan through a resume to try and guess what you do. If you have a functional resume (one that highlights skills, rather than industry background and job history) don’t be surprised if you catch a couple terse comments from recruiting firms. But don’t worry, chances are your resume isn’t bad, nor have your done anything wrong. It’s just a typical preference for recruiters. Recruiters look for career backgrounds that match their search criteria. If you are looking to make a slight shift into a parallel industry or a slight shift in terms of your position, then a recruiter may be able to help you. If you are looking to make a career transition into another industry, then you can skip connecting with recruiters all together. They are paid to find exactly what their clients have asked them to find…and nothing less. Other job search methods will work much better for you. What is the definition of a recruiter’s “star” candidate? If you are looking to remain in your industry and have a solid and successful background in it, then you will be especially attractive to recruiters…a “star” candidate. “Star” candidates are also defined as those who have held no more than three jobs in the past ten years and those with a complimentary and impressive academic background. The more attractive you are to recruiters, the more negotiating power you have. What else does a recruiter look for? A good personality, tact, diplomacy, and promptness returning phone calls and emails are often major components to a successful match. Remember when a recruiter sends you to one of their clients; their reputation is on the line. They are acutely aware of this, and you should be too. One last valuable tip: a recruiter is somewhat limited in his or her ability to bring you “your dream job”. They can and will only offer you positions they are working on for their clients, and only if you are a potential match for the position. Additionally, you will probably not be the only candidate they send to interview for the position. Generally recruiters send in two to four qualified candidates for each position they are paid to fill. If you want to build good relationships both short and long term with recruiters you should: • Find either paid or free lists of recruiters who specialize in your position or industry. Generally the recruiter’s geographical location is of little importance, they often have many clients outside of their physical location. • The paid lists I endorse are through Executive Agent (listed on my website). Their system is quick and easy to use and very affordable. Their reputation in the industry is excellent….as are the results they provide. • Follow up with courtesy phone calls to the best recruiters on your list based on your needs and how they measure up. You will look more professional and get on their radar screen. • Always be pleasant, positive and diplomatic. • Treat the recruiter just the same as you would a potential employer in an interview. • If you are really attached to your industry, then building long-term relationships with recruiters isn’t a bad idea. Recruiters are heavily networked, appreciate referrals and the good ones will remember your generosity, kindness and professionalism. They will go out of their way to contact you with five-star positions they may have down the road. Recruiters can be extremely helpful to you and your career and knowing their hot buttons and the best ways to find them and build positive relationships with them will not only save you time but serve to flush out additional job opportunities! Top 10 Unusual Resume Mistakes

Top 10 Unusual Resume Mistakes 78 Are you making these mistakes on your resume? 10) Using a cutesy email account to send the CV Any email arriving from snookums12 or bigboy69 that gets through the spam filter will get caught by the human filter before being dumped in the trash filter. Email from billgates1 is probably not going to help at Microsoft either. 9) Mentioning low grades or test scores eval If you had problems in a course, why mention it at all? You're too honest. Emphasize the positive and achievements you can be proud of. 8) Forgetting ineffective information on your CVeval …only to have it surprise you in the subsequent interviews, such as alternative musical tastes (which I have), esoteric hobbies (I would get asked about mixology too much) or even a past job experience unrelated for the position at hand. Every detail you leave on your CV should have a purpose or not be there. 7) Avoid sending your CV as an email attachment Don't do this unless requested specifically in a job posting. Instead, put the CV text directly into the email itself. In this age of spam and viruses, many emails are wrongly flagged as dangerous and are quarantined from their destination, taking your hard work and hopes with them. Besides, the recipient can always ask you for a different format after the fact, and will. Some people think otherwise. 6) Using friends as references This is especially funny when your friends do it also and everyone applies to the same company. You're better off keeping your references in a separate document anyway. 5) Saying why you left “Don't include reasons why you are leaving your current employer or why you may have already left,” says Tracy P. Miller of TearTaylor's Career Corner. However, be prepared for the question if it comes up in the interview and ‘the pay was too low' is not a good answer even if it may be true. 4) Using non-traditional fonts or symbols This is especially relevant when applying internationally. The resume recipient's computer may not be equipped to handle these symbols, and you're overly optimistic if you think that person is going to understand why your CV looks like garbage on their screen. They'll reject you as quickly as they can confirm a file deletion (guess which). Another reason is that resume-search or -scanning software may also have a hard time deciphering this special text, rendering your CV a waste of space in a company's candidate database. 3) Writing with expressions that only made sense at a past job Only a handful of people are going to understand when I say that I could be counted on to quickly knock out hotfixes from Racine while the site was gone fishin', and unless you're applying for an internal promotion, your own cultural siblings are unlikely to be on your upcoming list of interviewers. Employers are making efforts to speak simply, and so should you. 2) Breaking the law Seriously. For example, in Canada it's illegal for an interviewer to ask about marital status, sexual orientation, race or age so save precious page space by keeping that information to yourself. 1) Lying This is so obviously a bad idea, it boggles the mind that people continue to lie on their resumes all the time. Admittedly, in my experience few companies do their homework and verify final candidates' claims on their CVs with even a single phone call to a past employer, which is perhaps the reason people keep trying. Just don't do it. Bonus Mistake 0) Leaving text for video This pseudo-cool Web2.0 trend of performing your CV on camera continues to annoy recruiters. Would you want to hire someone that you feel has wasted your time before they even walked in the door? Keep the video camera for family events and catching people doing dumb things. 5-Steps to Forgive Someone and Move On

5-Steps to Forgive Someone and Move On The following is a guest post by Divine Grace Buszka,  Her bio follows. We all deserve happiness, but many of us can’t seem to get to a place of pure joy. Perhaps it is because you are hanging onto anger towards someone who has wronged you. It happens to all of us. Whether it’s a co-worker, a family member or a friend â€" we’ve all resented someone who hurt us. It can be toxic. The longer we carry around that hurt, the more bitter, cold, cynical and closed off we become. Forgiveness is one of the toughest things you can do, but it is essential if you want to move on. Learning to forgive properly can heal deep wounds and create a happier, more peaceful life. It can also save your relationships, your social life, and even your job if you are angry at the boss. So, when you find yourself in this position, consider this: forgiveness is not for the other person, it’s for ourselves. When we forgive others, we are not saying that what they did is okay and we’re not letting them off the hook! Instead, we are giving ourselves permission to let go of the anger, resentment and all the pain they caused us. That is how we set ourselves free. That is how we create space in our lives to find peace and happiness. It changed my life. Forgiving my ex-husband helped me get over my divorce, find enlightenment and finally have the courage to write my first book, “A Little Bit of Grace, A Spiritual Memoir.” Here are 5-steps you can take to shed the hurt and resentment and forgive someone for wronging you. Locate your pain. Stop, take a deep breath, and step back from the situation. Zoom out and take a look at the bigger picture of what that person did and why it upsets you. Try to identify the emotional pains such as anger, resentment, fear or sadness. Determine the emotional block. Is there a deeper reason you are angry? Figure out why this person hurt you and do your best to determine why it’s so difficult for you to let this go. Then, try to step into the other person’s shoes. Do your best to look at the situation from their perspective without bias or judgment. What fears or insecurities of theirs might be they be projecting? Have compassion. After doing your best to learn the other person, have compassion for who they are as another flawed human.  They are also trying to feel loved and be loved.  A lot of people will project their own fears and insecurities towards others due to feeling unloved and this may be the root of their negative actions toward you. Surrender, forgive, and let go. Be brave and make the conscious decision to forgive and to let go. Know that when you do this, you are not only setting the other person free, you are setting yourself free. Forgiveness is for you, not for anyone else because it sets you free from hurt. When you forgive and let go, you are loving yourself enough to give yourself peace. Send the other person peace and love. Do the work to heal and grow from the experience. Remind yourself that we are all human and sometimes we make mistakes. If the other person is unwilling to grow from it, that’s not your responsibility. It’s not your karma. Send the other person peace and love, and then let go and move on. Forgiveness is a personal process and no one can do it for you, but you can and should do it for yourself. As you start to let go, you will find it easier to come to terms with the hurt and move on with your spiritual evolution. It guided my journey of self-awareness and self-love, which I share in my memoirs to empower others to take the first step. If you are also interested in Divine Grace’s book, it will be released on Kindle May 31 for free for three days. About the Author Divine Grace Buszka is an author, spiritual teacher and life coach. How to Stand Out Online According To Ryan Deiss, Founder of DigitalMarketer.com - Classy Career Girl

How to Stand Out Online According To Ryan Deiss, Founder of DigitalMarketer.com What does a teacher do in a loud classroom when she wants her students to stop talking and listen? She whispers. According to Ryan Deiss, founder and CEO of Digital Marketer and speaker at last weeks ICON, in this cacophony called the internet, your marketing and your brand should whisper in order to be heard. Its a noisy world online these days. Hard to stand out, right? His tip to you is to whisper when it is loud in order to stand out. How can your brand whisper? Over the last 36 months Ryan and his team have: Invested over $15,000,000 on marketing tests, generated tens of millions of unique visitors, sent well over a BILLION emails, and run approximately 3,000 split and multi-variant tests. Ryan is also a highly sought after speaker and consultant whose work has impacted over 200,000 businesses in 68 different countries. How to Stand Out Online According To Ryan Deiss, Founder of DigitalMarketer.com 1. Build relational equity. Visualize your customers like an empty bank account. Its ok to withdraw money if you already have money in there. Thats ok. But its theft to make a withdrawal before we make adequate deposits. They get your pitch and they go, do I know you? Have you built up enough relational equity? Every time you send an email, think about, is this making a deposit or withdrawal of relationship equity? How do you build relational equity? Make them laugh. Can you laugh at yourself? Make them cry. Or make them feel a part of something. Where is the shared experience in our customer base? Do your customers know what you believe? Someone is more likely to invest in something if they know what you believe. 2. Deliver actual value in advance. Customers dont care until you go first. You must be willing to go first. The best way to do that now is through content amplification. Advertising amplifies content. If your content is bad, advertising to it wont help. So you absolutely must have quality content. Give me a little bit of content and now Ill give you a little bit. Retargeting makes this possible if done right. Its far better for the consumer as well. Retargeting means that once you land on someones website, you are tracked and they can retarget you with a personalized ad based on the content you were reading. For example, right now I could retarget YOU with an ad about another piece of content about online marketing. You can do the same and create more personalization for your target customers which will make them happier AND will help them get their problem solved faster. And we all want to help  as many people as possible, right? Ryan suggests buying advertising to content. You pay for it. Install a retargeting pixel. Then, send people to it. Be the one who answers questions and give actual value in advance. The goal is not to convert yet. Engaging costs you nothing. Start now. (Note: We agree with Ryans strategies and have written about retargeting in this Facebook advertising article, if you are interested in checking it out). BIG LESSON: The future of marketing isnt about who can get the most eyeballs the cheapest. Its about who has the most people pixeled.

It Is Attitude, Not Skills that Set You Apart

It Is Attitude, Not Skills that Set You Apart Terrence Seamons post Dead Wood, No Passion hits the mark! At a picnic with friends, a friend/hiring manager was lamenting over the lack of passionate candidates. Sure, there are lots of unemployed seekers, but he couldnt find one witha fire in their belly. So the recommendation made is to look inward and outward. How are you coming across? These are the recommendations of Terry: Positive Energy Although its a bummer to be out of a job, you cant let it drag you down. Somehow you must master your outlook. Stop holding on to the past. Let go of the banana. Remind yourself that you are still intact, that you still have your strengths. Focus on your objective. Focus on the future. Continuous Research Anyone committed to their job search nowadays has to be in continuous research mode. In other words, make sure that your feelers are out for information about whats happening in (and around) the business world. If you are not already a news junkie, become one. Stay abreast of whats going on in the fields of your greatest interest. Problem Solving The employers that you would like to work for have problems. Do you know what they are? Do you see yourself as the solution? Can you convey that to them? Lifelong Learning When an employer looks at you, do they see Miss Havesham (the Dickens character from Great Expectations), someone whose clock stopped years ago? Or do they see someone who is learning, trying new things, experimenting, and ever curious about the world? Passion Finally, lets look at passion. What is it? And how do you display it in your demeanor? Passion is strongly felt love for something, that shows up in your eyes, your face, your gestures, and your voice. You cant fake it. My friend John had that it that made him enjoyable to be around. He was positive, open to new opportunities and for the most part inquisitive. John is an engineer and was recently recruited and landed a splendid job in a far away state. It is happening! It will happen for you too!

Retirement Isnt What It Used To Be

Retirement Isnt What It Used To Be When the Social Security program was initiated in  the US in 1935, the logic was to remove older workers from the workforce and make way for younger workers. But you wont want to retire! So its time you evaluate your definition  of retirement.   In 1935, the average life expectancy was 61 years old. Far fewer people made it to the ripe old age of 65.    But today we are living  longer. The CDC reports life expectancy in the US is age  78.8. The idea that youll be happy playing golf, walking the beach, or playing cards for the remainder of your life seems absurd!  More importantly, most of us wont have enough money to carry us into our 90s given the costs of healthcare. If you are in the workforce, at any age, it is time for you to think about what you want to do with the last part of your career- or if you prefer, your second act. This post is part of Job Action Day.  Act II: Finding Career Satisfaction After 50 Redefine Retirement Who am I to define what YOUR retirement will look like? That is up to you and I suggest you begin thinking about how you will spend your free time once you are no longer working full time, because you will have a lot of it! Some baby boomers dont want to quit working. But they do want to reprioritize their time. They probably dont want to work 50+ hours a week. So what job will they hold? Will it be a role with less responsibility meaning less pay? Or will it be a consulting or per diem role? Or will there be a new type of income stream we have yet to define today? Visualize  Your Future Visualization is an effective way to begin. Visualization has been used by athletes and professionals to define what they want their future outcomes to look like. Whether you write down what your days activities will be, hour by hour, or create a vision board, the act of creating something tangible that represents your future can be very motivating. Assess  Your Values What will be important to you later in life? Will you want to volunteer, travel, or spend time with family? Your life post-retirement MUST center around your core values if you want to be happy. Write down these values and share them with your partner or spouse to see how they match and where they differ. Communicating with your significant other may bring stress but it may also bring peace. Be ready for either. Focus On What You LOVE Doing Throughout your career, youve done many things. Now is the time to focus on the functions and skills you enjoy using the most! Dont waffle or waiver from what your gut tells you. Write these things down. Connect The Dots Talk to people who have retired, read about people who have created a second career. Youre going to need ideas and inspiration to help you realize that almost anything is possible. Build Your Bridge to Retirement The earlier you start thinking and planning for your future, the better. It could take time for you to build a bridge to your new career and make the transition- so dont wait until youre final year to begin the process and metamorphosis!
